Is Trump too far gone?

The average lifespan for an American male is 78. Donald Trump is 78. He is an old man, the oldest to ever run for president, with the exception of Joe Biden, 81, who withdrew from the presidential campaign because of issues related to his advanced age.

By any measure, Donald Trump is in the last chapters of his life. So, if elected, there is a distinct possibility that he could die in office. Or become incapacitated more. It is already evident in his rants.

Further cutting short his life expectancy is that he is obese. Well-tailored suits cover up that he is just plain fat.

His BMI (body mass index) has to be more than 30, the level that defines obesity. We don’t know exactly how unfit he is physically and mentally, because he refuses to release any specific information about his health. His doctor issues platitudes, but no metrics, about his general health.

He doesn’t smoke or drink, which is a plus, but his eating and sleeping habits move up the likelihood of a death or incapacity during another four-year term in office. He sends out text messages in all hours of the night. His favorite diets of Big Macs and meatloaf are far from heart-healthy.

As many have observed, therefore, a vote for Trump is a probable vote for JD Vance, his vice-presidential running mate.

Vance would be a liability for the country, even though he is well educated. He has almost no experience in management. He never got beyond corporal during four years in the Marine Corps. Many talented Marines have achieved the sergeant level during four years of service.

He has been in the U. S. Senate for fewer than two years, very little government experience. He’s a rookie.

There is great irony here. Trump made a big deal out of Biden’s age. Now Trump’s advanced age is a serious reason to vote for Kamala Harris, who is in her adult prime at 60.

There is already talk at the pundit level of possibly having to invoke the 25th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution that enables removal of an incapacitated president in favor of the vice president.

If you don’t think Trump is on a slippery slope mentally, here are two unadulterated samples taken directly from a transcript of his recent speech in Latrobe, Pennsylvania:

  • “Tell them, Jill, get your fat husband off the couch. Get that, get that fat pig off the couch. Tell him to go vote for Trump. He’s going to save our country. Get that guy the hell out of here. Get them up; you slap them around; get them up; get them up. You know, we them off the couch o get out and vote, bring your friends and get them out…”

Was he talking to “Jill” Biden? Who is the “them? Who knows?

  • “They’re (immigrants) coming in. I think it’s the biggest problem we have. I don’t care. Deflation and inflation is all bad stuff. But this is the polls say the biggest problem is our economy, which stinks. The second biggest problem is inflation, which is devastating, the worst we’ve ever had. And third is our border. I think the border is our first biggest problem…”

Can you follow his priority of U.S. problems? I can’t.

Maybe he’s become exhausted from the rigors of campaigning every day with little sleep.

But maybe his scrambled word salad says he’s old and incapacitated.
